It's been a while.

Okay, I've been remiss in posting this last month or so.  Sorry.. I don't think many people are reading this anyway, so no big deal.  I went on my cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman Islands and Jamaica.  The cruise was fun, the food was great.  'nuff said about that.

Then I've been non-stop with my tv/movie stuff.  I was on or will be on, The Night Shift, Manhattan, Tina Fey's new movie (Title tentatively "Party House or Taliban Shuffle or 4-10-4"), A pilot for a TV show with Wesley Snipes called "End Game", A movie with Alex Skargard called "A War on Everyone". Another movie called "The Redemeers".  Plus I'm now booked for 2 1/2 weeks for Independence Day 2 (starts next week).. Busy busy busy.  BTW all these projects shoot in and around Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Ok, so here we go.  After 36 weeks, I've lost 1/2 of my goal.  I'm down 70.9 pounds, with 70.6 pounds to go!  Things are going slowly, but I have to admit, I'm not as strict on my diet as I was when I began.  I'm allowing more carbs in my diet which is slowing my weight loss.

I made my prime time debut last night on NBC's "The Night Shift".. That blur coming through the emergency room door that talks to the security guard is me!!  I'm wearing the plaid shirt and jeans.  This was episode 4, I have a close-up part in episode 8!  This was shot in January.

Week 30

Week 30 - I lost another 1.7 pounds!  I'm just 1/2 pound short of 70 pounds lost.  I'm averaging 2.3 pounds a week. That's good, right?

If anyone is interested, I may be shown (as an extra) in tomorrow night's "The Night Shift" on NBC. (March 16, 2015).  I come in through the emergency room door and talk to a security guard.  While talking to the security guard, EMT's come in with a patient on a gurney and then a lady comes in with a service dog.  I don't remember what I was wearing and I'll probably just be a blur, but it's me!  I'll try to capture it, and post it.

Week 29

Week 29 - It's been a few weeks since a post.  Did you miss me?

I haven't lost weight during those weeks, in fact I gained weight,  and didn't feel a need to post.  I was getting disappointed and discouraged.  But I trudged on.  I'm glad to report that I'm back and have lost more weight!  I'm at my lowest weight since starting this journey.  That's great news!

I have lost 4.3 pounds since last week with total of 67.8 pounds lost in 29 weeks!  That's encouraging.   I'm going on a cruise at the end of March and wanted to get down to 240 before the cruise. I'm not sure that's going to happen.  We'll see.

Week 26

Week 26 - I didn't post last week because I gained .2 of a pound.  So, no news there. I didn't even take pictures.  This week I gained another .6 of a pound. Again, not much to write home about, but I couldn't let another week go without posting something.   I didn't want the ones of peoples who actually read this blog to worry about me. LOL.  So I posted this week.

So, what's going on?  I DON'T know!!  I did have 1 cheat day.  But I didn't over do it.  It was days ago.  I've started walking everyday with my dogs, so I'm getting more exercise.  I'm just scratching my head.  I'm a little bummed, but not discouraged.

I'm going on a cruise to Cozumel, Jamaica and the Caymen Islands at the end of March. I want to lose more weight before that.

It's onward and downward I hope.

Week 24

Week 24 - It was a great week. I lost 2.7 lbs for a grand total of 66 pounds, All this is 6 months. I am averaging 2.8 lbs a week.  I'm really pleased with the results. Of course, I'd like it to be faster, but I think my results are very good.

Tomorrow I'm going to the set of a new Tina Fey movie where I'll be playing a Embassy Guest.  The movie is filming in New Mexico. Hopefully I'll be able to see Tina. I LOVE HERE.

It's Superbowl Sunday. I made a lot of Low-Carb food for today.  Just because it's a holiday or special day doesn't mean I can blow the diet!  I'm having Chorizo Stuffed Jalapeno's, Bacon Wrapped Cream Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breasts, Bacon Deviled Eggs, and a cheese and vegetable plate with Ranch and Chipolte Ranch Dips.

Week 23

Week 23 - I'm a day late posting my weekly post.  I was in Roswell, NM to find little gray alien guys.  I went to the UFO museum there.  I was pleasantly surprised how well done and informative the museum was.  I expected a cheesy small tourist trap.  It only cost $5.00 to get in, so we said, 'what the heck'.  I'm glad we did. If you ever find yourself in Roswell, NM and are even just mildly interested in UFO's, stop at this place.

Ok, onto the weight.  I lost another 1.2 pounds! woohoo!  After last week's slight gain, I was really happy to see a loss this week. It's slow, but it's a loss.

I just booked a cruise yesterday for the end of March! I have a new incentive to loss more weight. I've got to get my cruise body ready to go. (LOL!).  We're leaving from New Orleans and going to Cozumel, Mexico, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands.   We're spending 4 days in New Orleans before the cruise. It should be a blast!

Week 22

Week 22.  Well Dang, I gained almost a pound this week.  Frustrating? You bet.  Deal breaker? No WAY!!    I'm not going to post pictures this week, there's no change..  
+On an exciting note, I got cast as an Embassy Guest in a upcoming Tina Fey movie that's shooting in Albuquerque.. I'm excited!

Week 21

Week 21 - I didn't get a chance to post last week. I hope you didn't miss me. My son came into town from the Navy.  We celebrated the holidays a week late so he could be here and enjoy Christmas with us.  So, when I got on the scale today, I was happy.  I've finally broken into the 250's. and broke the 60 pounds lost mark.  I am almost 1/2 way to my goal of 140 pounds lost.  I've averaged 3 pounds lost a week for a total of 62.8 pounds in 21 weeks. I'm pleased.

Week 19

Week 19 - I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.   I will be celebrating Christmas on Tuesday when my son comes to visit from the Navy.  He's stationed in Norfolk, VA and got leave starting Monday.  I'm excited.  The tree is still up, the presents are still wrapped and I've been grocery shopping and cooking so I can make all his favorites!

I fully expected to gain weight this week.  Last week was such a big weight drop, I thought for sure my body would take a break and hold on to some water, weight, whatever.  But nope, I dropped another 2 pounds!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!!  I've lost a total of 59.5 pounds (you couldn't give me that extra 1/2 pound to make it an even 60 pounds, could you!!?!  LOL).   I'm just kidding, I'm very happy with my results this week.  A Christmas miracle??

Week 18

Week 18 - Crazy result this week.  I lost 5.9 lbs.  This on the heels of a slight gain last week.  I'm thinking this anomaly has a lot to do with just normal biological factors.  I'm happy about the weight loss this week, but I'm kind of leery about what next week will show.

My wonderful daughter and I made Christmas cookies this week. I cannot lie, I CHEATED!!  I had one of my favorite cookies and one piece of fudge. (and yet I lost almost 6 pounds,  Could this be my new Christmas cookie diet?? LOL.. NO!!!)  Baking Christmas cookies with my mom is a fond memory I will always cherish, baking Christmas cookies with my daughter is another memory that I will always cherish.  It was really hard not licking the spoon, taking samples, picking at the batter, but I was good.  I just had one each of the finished product to make sure they came out okay.  (pssst. they did!)

Week 17

Week 17.  Last week's "Wow" has turned into this week's "Whaaaat?".  I gained 1.6 pounds!!  Whaaaat?   I didn't cheat.  So I'm stumped.

Maybe it's water. Water weighs 8 lbs per gallon, so 1 pint of water equals 1 pound. 1 pint of excess water is not that much, but weighs a hefty 1 pound.  

I hurt my back and wasn't active for a couple days.  Maybe that was it.   

My sleep schedule got really screwed up because I was an extra in a movie and we shot from late night to early morning.. 

I just don't know.  I'm a little bummed, but not discouraged.  Ups and downs go with dieting.  We all prefer the downs, but we have to realize there will be ups.   Trudge on.  

Christmas is next week.  I plan on baking our family traditional cookies and fudge.  No promises, but I'm going into it with good intentions.

Week 16

Week 16.  Wow.. Lots of good news this week.  I lost 3.7 pounds this week, which makes my total weight loss 53 pounds!  I've past the 50 lbs lost point.  Even though it's just numbers, psychologically, it's a milestone.  It's over half way to 100 pounds which seems to be the holy grail of serious weight loss goals..  I also comfortably fit into a size 42 W pants (yes, the pants in this week's pictures).. I bought these pants a long time ago, but could never fit into them. They have been hanging in my closet for over a year.   They still had the store labels on them.  Now the labels have been ripped off and the pants fit!!  A Christmas miracle indeed.  The size 44 W pants are heading into the 'fat' stack. (To be donated soon.)  I've kept my 'fat' clothes before when I lost weight 'just in case'.. This time, they're going to be outta here. I started this diet wearing a size 50 W.

So what did I do different this week to lose 3.7 pounds? I painted my office and baseboards in the office and hallway.  That's about it.  I thought last week I had retained some water, so maybe this week the water was gone.  Who knows.  This weight loss thing is a crazy thing.

Week 15

Week 15.  What a week of temptations!  I went to Las Vegas for 3 days and got comped the "Buffet of Buffets".  That's were you can eat at any of the selected buffets as much as you want for a 24 hour period.  (if you pay for this, it's $49.99 - which is a great deal).  Anyway, we went to the buffets and I didn't cheat and only ate low-carb items.  I even found Sugar Free Cheesecake, mousse and custard.  We hit a seafood buffet and I bypassed my all time favorite, fried shrimp, and got the boiled shrimp instead.  The lobster was heavenly! Dipped in melted butter.. YUM..

And then I came home and did Thanksgiving with my daughter and her boyfriend.  They had Ham, stuffing, Candied sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, rolls, Au Gratin potatoes. I had Ham, mozzarella balls and Low-Carb Pecan pie.   Again, I was good. I probably ate more than I usually do, but on Atkins, that's okay.

As a result of my week's adventures, I lost .6 lbs.  Not much, but still a loss!!  I'm just under 50 lbs lost.  Next  week I WILL break that.  Promise!

Week 14

Week 14.  I'm a day early (I usually post on Sundays, but I'm heading to Las Vegas tomorrow, so I'm doing everything today).  It was a great week.  I lost 3.5 lbs !!  Last week I gained a little.  I hoped it was just water retention.  I guess it was!  So for the last 2 weeks, I averaged 1.75 pounds a week. Not too bad.  In 14 weeks, I've lost 48.7 lbs!  Averaging 3.5 a week!   My goal for next weigh in is to break the 50 pounds lost psychological barrier.

I'm going to Las Vegas tomorrow.  I promise to keep to my diet.  Hopefully with all the walking, gambling, jumping up and down from all my wins, I'll lose a lot of weight and have a happy report next week.

Week 13

Week 13.  13 bad luck? I gained .7 pounds this week.  It is what it is.. I'm not too disappointed.  I didn't cheat.  I'm thinking it's water gain.  We'll see what happens next week.   The little white streaks in this week's photos  are snow!  The first snow of the season in Albuquerque, NM.

I'm heading to Las Vegas next week, so I don't think there will be an update next week.  We'll see.

Week 12

Well, it was another good week.  I lost 2.7 lbs for a total of 45.9 lbs in 12 weeks.. That's an average 3.8 lbs a week.. I'll take it!  This week I did 3 days of Richard Simmons' "Party Off the Pounds" video.  I tried an hour session of Yoga (OUCH!) and I didn't cheat on my Atkins Diet.
Just for kicks, I tried on some of my 'skinny' clothes.  You know, those clothes that you still have in your closet from when you were skinnier and you haven't thrown out because you just know you're going to get back into someday?  You know those clothes?  You know YOU have them!  Well, when I started this diet, I was wearing a 3XL shirt.  The black shirt in this week's picture is a single XL.   The pants in my original picture were a 50w.  The jeans in this week's picture is a very loose 44w.  I tried on a 42w and even though I could put them on and button them, the were tight and very unflattering.  I think 10 more pounds lost and they'll fit just fine.. I'll keep you updated.
On a personal note, I feel great.  I have energy, my mind is clear and sharp (I've heard that a 'foggy' head was a side effect of cutting the carbs), my joints and back aren't hurting hardly anymore.  Life it good. :-)

Week 11

It's week 11 and another 1.5 pounds gone.  I'm just a little disappointed, but I remind myself that I lost 6 pounds last week (yay!) and I had a little procedure done last week and couldn't really get around and move like I wanted to. (sorry, Richard Simmons, you'll have to wait until this week before I Party Off the Pounds again.).

Halloween went well.  I gave out candy to all the little monsters and I didn't sneak any for myself!  I wasn't even tempted. How cool is that?!?

Hopefully, this week, I'll get back to my routine, doing Party Off the Pounds, maybe some hiking.  I'm optimistic this week will be full of fun and adventure.

Week 10

Wow! What a big week!  I went to Las Vegas this week and lost more than my money.  At this week's weigh in, I lost 6.1 pounds!  I stayed away from the buffets in Las Vegas.  I found a Chipolte on the strip (by Harrah's) that actually didn't inflate their prices.  The prices were the same as my local Chipolte in Albuquerque.  Anyway, I had their Chicken Salad with cheese, sour cream, medium and mild salsa, NO beans, NO rice or NO dressing.  This configuration has only 8 net carbs!
I also did my Richard Simmons "Party Off the Pounds" DVD for the first time when I got home. It was actually fun and it didn't feel like exercise. I sure was sweatin' after I was done.  So everything combined worked to help me lose 6.1 pounds this week.  It's great re-enforcement to see such great results..
Oh, one more milestone this week, I now have less that 100 pounds to lose.

Week 9

Another 1.7 lbs gone!  Woohoo!  Yeah, it's just under 2 lbs, but it's gone and it isn't a gain!   Tomorrow, I heading to Las Vegas!  I'll be doing a lot of walking (and gambling.. hehe).   I will stay away from the buffets, I promise.  Hopefully with all this  moving this week, next week's numbers will be good.  When I get back from my trip, I plan on starting (don't laugh) Richard Simmons' Party off the Pounds.  It really looks like a fun way to get some cardio and to get me moving. There will NOT be any videos posted of me, partying off the pounds!  Sorry.
