Where's the Comments?

Ok, I was getting a little bummed that no one was posting comments. I was beginning to think no one visited my little ol' blog, but my counter says over 500 people have visited my blog. But still I had ZERO comments on all my posts. Today, when I logged on, I saw this really small thingy saying I had comments I needed to moderate. All this blogging stuff is really new to me. All this hi-tech hocus pocus throws me for a loop at times. Anyway, I clicked the link to moderate my comments and wah la, there were comments. Then I dug deeper and found a setting that was checked about moderating comments. I unchecked 'yes' and checked 'no'. NOW comments should just post without me having to intervene..

Soooo..... POST AWAY! We could get some good discussions going. Ask me anything. I'm pretty much an open book. If it will help and inspire you, it's all good!

Take Care, Eat Well,
Rich

  1. Hey there rich.

Your progress is very much like mine!

    I'm 6'1 and 42 years old.

    I also had a mini-goal of 220lbs
    at one time.

    Glad to see your progress.

I'll have to keep up with the blog :)

    Take care and keep trucking!

  7. Hi Rich:
    Congratulations on redoing your lifestyle!
I will offer one word of caution gained from over 20 years of struggle with weight (I'm doing it again btw...noone can call me less than optimistic :o))...the good thing is that I do learn something new each time. One thing that occurred to me this time round (also doing the YOU on a Diet thing), is that I absolutely refuse to get hung up on weight numbers. I think we tend to put conditions on our success...i.e. IF I make it to 145, THEN I will be successful. That automatically sets up the counter-weight...where we feel just as bad falling off that self-imposed 'perfect weight'. I try to focus much more on functional fitness now...getting away from being the gym rat I used to be...been doing a lot of yoga, meditation, walking, squash, trying to do a headstand, seeing if I can touch my big toe to my nose (fun!)...in other words, doing something else fun with my body other than watching it lose weight (and gain it)...about as exciting as watching grass grow. And it IS working! It's so much less stressful, and fun! I don't feel like I'm moving toward a finishing line, just realigning my thinking. It's a hard thing to do sometimes with everyone shoving food at us at every event in life. It's all about mindfulness, not deprivation or hunger.

So my two bits: Enjoy the PROCESS too...be just as happy at 230 with your body, as you plan to be when it's 197. Who knows, your body may wish to be 195, 187...or 201. Your bone mass will change as you age. That tiny difference shouldn't make a difference to all the wonderful things you've done. I say this, because I have really been there, done that...seen a 6 lb. gain as license to gain a further 30...and didn't even really enjoy the donuts that got me there...which is the real crime here!
Anyway, enjoy your healthy body, and I think you've made a marvelous gift to yourself!
    Keep up the good stuff.

  8. Way to Go, Rich!!

Two questions....how tall are you and how do you handle it when you get angry (or nerved out) and want to eat junk?
