Monday Blues

Well, it's Monday again for me. (I work Friday thru Tuesday). I woke up with a new sense of determination to break through this hideous brick wall I've hit.

I put on a batch of oatmeal in the crockpot last night, so I woke up with warm, steel cut, cinnamon oatmeal. yummm. I did my hour on the treadmill and did the intermediate YOAD work out. For snack, I had Activia, for Lunch I had baked Talipia with Brown rice. For dinner tonight at work, I've premade my Salad (Romaine, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Smoked Turkey Breast, Feta, Craisins). I've had 2 Fuze drinks and I'm drinking gobs of water. I will spend 2 of my 30 minute breaks at work tonight, walking the parking lot.

Like I said, Monday Blues.

  1. Awwww...sorry to hear about the Monday Blues Rich. Hey, have you tried Spark People yet? It's a great tool--I wonder if you're getting enough protein(reading your post today). I am kind of wondering about calories too. Hmmm....
When you input your nutritional intake into SP daily, it tracks how many carbs, proteins and fat you should have daily. You may want to check it out.
Don't get discouraged! You're still doing AWESOME, even with the plateau. YOU are still one of my inspirations. Keep on, keepin' on mister!

  2. rich..

I hope I'm not asking what you've previously answered, but what is your oatmeal recipe in the crockpot? I'd like to make it.

    Thanks,

  3. I got the instructions here http://www.simple-vegetarian-recipes.com/crock-pot-oatmeal.html

    It's really simple and convienant.

Yeah, Shannon, I'm a sparks person, but not a loyal one I guess. Putting in all my food everyday is a drag. I did it for a couple of days and the numbers were good with respect to protein and such. Thanks, I hope I can keep inspiring.

  4. Hey Rich,

As I've mentioned, I started YOAD with the book in August, and while searching for the interviews from Oprah about the diet on YouTube (Side note - Dr. Oz will be oin Oprah about the diet on Monday), and tripped upon your shrinking man #2 video. That video pointed to your blog, and I've been reading and posting since. You're an inspiration, even though I've never met you.

Well, today, five weeks after starting the diet, I'm down 20.5 lbs and 3 inches overall (it would probably be more inches, but I started measuring my waist incorrectly according to YOAD procedures, but I'm sticking with the wrong way to show progress). And it has been a pleasure to see how you've handled the past 4 weeks of a plateau.

Keep up the great work...you're doing what needs to be done to move off 218. I'd be seriously shocked if you weren't lighter next week.

  5. Chris,

20.5 pounds in 5 weeks!! That so rocks! I'm glad you stumbled across my video and blog. You've been a welcome addition to our little family. Anything I can do to help, just let me know. Or throw a question out to the posters here. You can see how much people are willing to help when someone asked about overweight kids. The response was AMAZING!!

    Keep up the great work!!
