I'm Stuck

I'm still weighing in at 218 (my lowest weight in my adult life). Maybe my body is incapable of weighing less than 218. Maybe that's why I've NEVER weighed less than 218 in my adult life. Maybe this is my perfect weight. Maybe this is what I'm suppose to weigh. Maybe this is it. Maybe I'll never lose another ounce. Maybe I'll just GIVE UP! NOT! Never give up, never surrender. No pictures this week, same old me.

Nothing gained, nothing lost. Nothing to do except just keep on keepin on.
Here's the numbers...

  3. Hey Rich,

How about it this way...congrats on another week of keeping the weight off! I know how much I want to see that scale down each week...so I can really sympathize with your frustration. Is there anything you can 'tweak' on the diet at this point of the game? It goes to reason that your body won't need as many calories as you get lighter...so perhaps revisiting the size of portions? Or upping your exercise another notch? You've been a YOADer for much longer than I have been, so you've probably already thought through those issues. Give it another week, I'd say, and see if anything happens...and if not, then it's time to tweak something. Or even do what you did before (a break for a week) to get the loss going again. Just some thoughts.

  4. Rich,
Can you lend any advice? I've been doing YOAD for almost 4 months now and have lost 20 pounds and 5 inches in the waist.

When it comes to the dieting, I've pretty much got my eating under control with the YOAD approved foods.

I started doing pilates(on the reformer machine) in late July 3x a week and sadly dropped my walking till about a week ago. So, I've gained a lot of muscle tone but lost little fat over the past month. I now have a treadmill have been doing 30 minutes on 3.5 speed for the past 4 days, hoping to get the tape measure and scale moving again.

I'm in a serious plateau, not gaining but not losing during the past three weeks.

Did the green tea pills you once mentioned help? Do you still take them? I just started drinking green tea and I'm getting used to the taste.

    Thanks.

  5. My wife keeps hitting stalls but she eventually gets over them.

And she has the same thoughts "I'll never weigh less than this".

Her last stall lasted a couple of weeks short of 3 months at 200lbs.

    Now she is 193!

What she did to start losing again was to break down and really, really watch her calories and she went back to a pick-n-stick for breakfast designed to boost her metabolism. They both seemed to have done the trick for now.

    Hang in there bud!

  7. Hi Rich! I feel your pain too. I've been there plateau-ing with you for the last couple weeks. I'm so proud of your attitude toward it. You are totally my inspiration. When I'm feeling stuck, I come here and read.
    Keep hangin in there, friend!

  8. Dara,

I just need to comment on your post. If you've gained muscle tone over the past weeks, that is where your plateau comes from. And now that I think about it, that could also be Rich's issue. Muscle weighs more than fat, and if you've gained muscle (or are gaining muscle) you will not lose weight (sometimes you gain). I think Orlando Tek's advice to just hang in there is the key. Eventually you stop building muscle at that rate, and you begin losing additional fat weight (muscle burns the fat, too).

  9. I'm no expert (in fact I would stick to Dr. oz) but i'm pretty sure there is a plateau that all weight-losers hit at some point. It's the point where you have burned most of the fat accumulated through poor eating, and now you are developing muscle in replace of it, which is why the weight isnt moving. just guessing. keep it up!
