Hey Rich congrats Great job you are the BIGGEST LOSER! Hey did you know that Dr.Oz has a new book coming out in October I am not sure what the name of it is .
ReplyDeleteRena
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI am so very happy for you Rich!
The last twenty five should be very easy.
Chari
Thanks, Dara and Rena.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard about a new book, was the old one broken?? lol. It's certainly working for me!!
Rich
Congratulations Rich! That is so awesome. You continue to be an inspiration to all of us. I am still reading the book and I am loving it. I am starting to incorporate some of the ideas and I am feeling great. I have 10 days left in our contest and as of last friday, I was still in first place. Wish me luck - it will really further inspire me to win and I could also use the $$$! Back to school with two girls is so expensive - no money left for me?! ha ha
ReplyDeleteTalk to you soon Mr. Skinny!
Stephanie
I wasn't snubbing you Chari, I guess I posted my response while you were typing your comment and yours got posted prior to mine. Anyway, THANKS!! But I have to disagree with you, I think the last 21 pounds are going to be the hardest. I hope YOU are right!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your contest Stephanie! How cool is it that you can make money losing weight!!
Keep up the good work.
Rich
No champagne here either, but I'm lifting my Diet Pepsi to you!
ReplyDeleteI just finished the book this week. It's so interesting to know the why's and how's behind how I got myself into this condition (and how to get myself back out of it, of course). Happily, I've already been doing most of what the book recommends, but I do think I'll read it again and make a few little changes. I have to step it up a little here. I'm only 5'2", and I just can't have you weigh less than me...LOL
Seriously though...
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you!! I totally want to be president of your fan club!
Elizabeth
Fan Club?? I have a fan club? Who wouldda thunk?
ReplyDeleteRich
I'm so PROUD of and happy FOR you Rich!! You are an inspiration to all of us!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to tone and firm while you're losing all that weight!
:-)
Hugs,
Shannon
By the way, the new book is something about looking younger. It's not a diet book.

Hey Rich,
ReplyDeleteI was the Anonymous user a couple of posts ago that started YOAD. After two weeks (started 8/9, was on a trip, and then moved to weigh-ins and measurement on Saturdays), I'm down 9 lbs. and one inch on the waist. As I mentioned before, I started roughly where you were on weeks 4 and 5 (275 lbs. with a 53 inch waist). I didn't know that you are supposed to "suck in" your stomach when measuring until a week ago (found that thread on the RealAge website, and the book isn't real clear about it), so I've decided to keep measuring by not sucking in--keeps my measurements in relation to each other.
I was hoping for a smaller waist this week, but with 4.5 lbs gone this week and last, I'll take that, and your stats are useful to me, because it helps me to know there will be weeks where weight or waist may not change.
Keep up the great work...and if you can, make sure that you always post your whole set of weight loss stats in each month (not just the abbreviated version), because I'm sure that other YOAD folks are checking your blog and comparing their progress to yours, just as I have done.
Chris
Welcome aboard Chris!! You've made a great start on the plan. There's a link on my blog about measuring your waist and sucking in and the reason why.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link: http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=2654794
You can also just click the link on the left side of my blog under "Relevant Links" and then click ABC NEWS VIDEO: You on a Diet
You will show more progress in your pounds than in your waist, but don't be discouraged. Just take it one day at a time and before you know it, you won't believe you're fitting in clothes you never thought you would.
Enjoy the journey!
Rich
Oh, I forgot, I'll post an entire chart of my weekly progress next week. I promise. I didn't realize that people were using it to compare week to week. I just condensed it to save space, but I guess space is free here, so what the heck.

HI Rich
ReplyDeleteI found your success story and WOW!!! Good for you! I met Dr. Roizen personally after winning a contest in Canada with a local Tv morning show. His personal home invasion and 12 week follow up resulted in a 20 pound weight loss and an amazing 7" waist loss (from a 36' waist to a slim 29" waist) I still have another 20 more pounds to go!! I still keep in touch with him and you can read my story on his www.realage.com website under the blogs section. Dr. Roizen is a true inspiration but your story is testimate to the inspiration!! Did you ever reach a plateau and if so how did you overcome the plateau? I am really stuck! (PS - he is coming out with a new book in October and the old old is definately not broken!!!) LOL!!
Welcome Caroline! How GREAT that you met Dr. Roizen. You're lucky that you keep in touch with him. You mentioned a 'blog' section on realage.com, were you referring to the forums? or is there a 'blog' section?
ReplyDeletePlease keep us up to date on your progress and your secret to breaking through the plateaus. We've ALL had them and they are quite the bummer, but personally I just think it's your body saying it needs a rest. I just keep telling myself that it's not a race, the fat will come off when it's ready to come off.
